Poor greyhound/staffy Brodie was frightened of everyone and everything when he first came into the kennels. He was living in a home, but his owner had to give him up because of a relationship break-up. Brodie is still nervous while he is in his kennel, but when he is taken out he soon brightens up and is playful and lively. He has good recall when off the lead and he can be left on his own in a home for a few hours. He is very affectionate with people he knows, but is wary of some other dogs, although he is much better than when he first came into the rescue. He has lived with another dog, and may be able to live with another one with careful introduction. He is not used to children, so needs an adult only home. Brodie is in the kennels in Devon.

He has been managing so well that his gradual sight loss had not been noticed until a check-up with the vet revealed that his pupils do not react to light. He loves to run in a safe enclosed area and we feel sure that he would soon learn to find his way around a new home, especially if there is already another greyhound or lurcher there who will act as his guide. Name: Jayjay

Sex: dog

Age: 2 and a half years

Information: Poor Jayjay is the unluckiest dog in the Stray Dogs Sanctuary. He came in after breaking his leg and has been in the rescue kennels since January 2017. After a while he went to a foster home, but had to come back into the kennels when his fosterer had family problems. After months in the kennels someone offered Jayjay a permanent home, but she brought him back after just one day because he cocked his leg indoors. She said that she couldn't live with a dog that does that! More months in kennels followed, then another home offer was made. It appeared to be a good one, but Jayjay was only there for about a week when it was discovered that his new owner had mislead the rescue about her circumstances and the home was not suitable for any of the rescue dogs. Recently Jayhay went to his fourth home and this time we were hopeful that this really would be his forever home, but unfortunately the other dog in the home reacted badly when Jayjay sniffed a small dog (he had a muzzle on and moved away as soon as he was told to, and he did no harm to the small dog) but his owner's other dog did. Yet again he has been brought back to the kennels through no fault of his own. Jayjay is a beautiful black greyhound with such a lovely nature and he deserves so much to find a home where he can happily spend the rest of his life. He can be the only dog as long as he is not left for more than about four hours a day, or he can live with another medium or big dog. Probably an experienced greyhound or lurcher owner would be best. PLEASE consider giving lovely Jayjay that home and the chance to have a wonderful Christmas this year instead of another one alone in his kennel. He is in the kennels in Dorset, but can go to a home outside this area.

FOSTER HOME URGENTLY NEEDED for Rogan who has been in the rescue kennels for over 6 months and is now suffering from such extreme kennel stress that it is making him lose weight. Name: Susie

Sex: bitch

Age: 7-8 years

Information: We think that staffie Susie is around 7-8 years old. No background history on her as she was found straying. She's a typical staffie in that she loves attention and toys. She doesn't really seem bothered about other dogs, if she was to live with them she would benefit from them being calm dogs, but ideally we think she'd like to be an only dog if she could. Susie is in the kennels in Devon. RESERVED

Name: Sylvia

Sex: bitch

Age: 4 years

Information: This very pretty greyhound is Sylvia who came into the rescue last year and went to a new home a few months ago, but sadly, through no fault of her own, she has had to come back into the rescue kennels. She is a beautiful, small and dainty girl who loves people and gets on well with other dogs. She has a delightful, enthusiastic, personality and greets her carers at the kennels with a happy face and a very waggy tail. Sylvia has been living with a whippet and got on very well with him, so she can go to a new home where there is already another greyhound, lurcher or whippet. She does need a cat free home and, as she is not used to living with them, where there are no small dogs. Sylvia can live with children aged over 8 years. Her favourite part of the day is when she is taken out into the field to run and play and have fun. Sylvia is in the kennels in Dorset.
